One of the most adventurous train journeys I’ve had is the ride through the Maeklong market railway in Thailand. The train chugs its way through a tightly packed market, where stalls are set up on the rails.
I have always enjoyed walking around markets in Thailand, but to have one with its own railway was an added bonus, and one that was surely out of my imagination.
The market is so famous that there were many tourists in the marketplace just taking photos. The vendors know the exact time the train arrives as they push their tents and carts back while waiting for the train to pass by. They are also very much used to the tourists and also pointed out a few perfect spots best for taking pictures.
Soon after the train passes by, the vendors and shoppers are back to business.
