The Glowing Lake

Spread the love

Have you ever been to a lake for a dip at night and noticed that your friends swimming in it are glowing? A lake in Victoria, Australia appeared to be of a fluorescent shade of blue, imparting a little of its glow to the objects in the lake! This was due to a phenomenon called the bio-luminescence which occurs when a micro organism in the water is disturbed. Noctiluca Scintillans is one of those micro organisms that makes the objects in the water glow.
You will have to be lucky to experience this phenomenon as that micro organism isn’t always high in concentration in the lake!
