One of the most intriguing mysteries of Phillipines’ geographical history is the disappearance of the island of San Juan. In the ancient maps, mostly sketched by popular geo-travellers and discoverers alike, it is said to be shown off the northeastern tip of Mindanao. It is known to have completely detached from the massive island nation.

San Juan was an established place that frequently occurred in every 16th to 18th century maps. Back in those times, the Filipinos were represented by these San Juan natives.

Although, there have been many theories about it being renamed or getting submerged into the waters, the exact cause of the island suddenly disappearing from the global map is surely a mystery.
