The Tula gingerbread is an imprinted gingerbread from the Tula city. Prints or patterns on the gingerbread is considered to be an art form. It usually looks like a tile of rectangular shape. The patterns, symbols and images are made by rolling out the dough on a special board with already carved designs. A new board is carved newly for every design. Since the 17th century gingerbreads are being baked in Tula.
The Tula Gingerbreads used to contain honey which have been replaced by jam or condensed milk these days.
